Surgical Gloves

Doctoright a brand of Nibhana Consumer (Formerly Smilepad Hygiene India Private Limited) manufactures and supplies sterile surgical gloves in latex and latex-free options across precise anatomical sizes, for operating theatres, procedure rooms and surgical suppliers. For bulk institutional quantities and export orders, supply runs through our medical consumables platform, Doctoright, built specifically for high-volume disposable supply and international shipment.

A surgical glove works at a standard an examination glove never has to meet. It is worn inside a sterile field, over hands that are about to open a body, for hours where a single pinhole is not an inconvenience but an infection risk. It has to fit like a second skin so the surgeon feels the tissue through it, seal sterile so nothing crosses that should not, and hold that integrity from the first incision to the last suture. This is the glove where cutting corners stops being a cost decision and becomes a clinical one.

Surgical gloves are not examination gloves

The two get confused and priced against each other, which is a mistake, because they are built for different jobs. Using an examination glove in theatre is a false economy that a surgical audit will not forgive.

For routine, non-invasive use, the right and more economical choice is our examination gloves. For anything entering a sterile field, it is these.

Latex or latex-free

The material decides the feel and the safety profile. Latex remains the traditional theatre choice for its fit and tactile sensitivity, but latex-protein allergy is a real risk to both surgeon and patient, which is why latex-free surgical gloves matter. Synthetic polyisoprene offers a latex-like feel without the protein, and nitrile provides a strong latex-free barrier. All are powder-free, which is now the surgical standard because powder has no place in an open wound.

Sizing and sterile packing

Precision starts before the procedure. Surgical gloves are made hand-specific and sized numerically, typically from 6.0 to 9.0 in half sizes, so the fit is exact rather than approximate. Each pair is sterile-packed in a peel-open wallet designed to be opened onto a sterile field without contamination. A glove that fits precisely is a glove the surgeon forgets is there, which is the entire goal.

Where surgical gloves are used

The common thread is a sterile field and an invasive procedure, and the standard does not relax across any of them.

Operating theatres. General, orthopaedic and specialist surgery, where fit, sensitivity and a dependable sterile barrier all matter at once.

Obstetrics and gynaecology. Caesarean and surgical delivery, which connects to our wider maternity and feminine-hygiene range.

Dental and minor surgery. Extractions and procedures that break the tissue barrier and demand sterile protection.

What to check before you buy in bulk

Buying a box and buying a case are not the same decision, and for a sterile surgical product the specification carries more weight than the price. A weak batch here is a clinical liability, not just a commercial one.

Sterility assurance. Confirm the sterilisation method and the standards the gloves are tested against, such as the EN 455 surgical-glove standard, and request the documentation up front.

Acceptable Quality Level. Surgical gloves demand a tighter AQL for pinholes than examination gloves; ask for the figure rather than assuming it.

Fit and sensitivity. Thickness has to balance protection against the tactile feel a surgeon needs, and the anatomical fit has to be true to size.

Batch consistency and lead time. The real test of a supplier is the tenth reorder matching the first. This is exactly what a dedicated disposables platform is built to hold steady.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between surgical gloves and examination gloves? Surgical gloves are sterile, hand-specific and made to precise numeric sizes with a tighter defect tolerance, for use inside a sterile field during invasive procedures. Examination gloves are usually non-sterile, ambidextrous and sized S to XL, for routine examination and handling.

Are surgical gloves always sterile? Yes, surgical gloves are individually sterile-packed for use in an aseptic field. If a task is non-invasive and does not require sterility, an examination glove is the correct and more economical choice.

What sizes do surgical gloves come in? They are made hand-specific and sized numerically, typically from 6.0 to 9.0 in half sizes, so the fit is exact rather than approximate.

Are latex-free surgical gloves available? Yes. Synthetic polyisoprene offers a latex-like feel without the protein, and nitrile provides a strong latex-free barrier, both important where latex allergy is a risk to surgeon or patient.

Do you supply surgical gloves in bulk and for export? Yes. Bulk institutional and export orders are handled through Doctoright, our medical consumables and export platform. Contact exports@doctoright.com or +91 93224 36898 for a quote.
