Smilepad Hygiene India Evolves into Nibhana Consumer12 Sept 2026

Smilepad Hygiene India Private Limited has evolved into Nibhana Consumer Private Limited, marking the beginning of a broader vision to build category leading consumer brands from India for Indian and global markets.

Founded in 2019 by Jairam Shetgaonkar, Smilepad Hygiene India began with a strong foundation in feminine hygiene, consumer understanding and FMCG execution. Over the years, the company expanded its capabilities across product development, manufacturing, private label solutions, institutional supply, distribution and international business.

As those capabilities grew, so did the ambition behind the organisation.

In 2026, Smilepad Hygiene India Private Limited evolved into Nibhana Consumer Private Limited.

The evolution represents much more than a change in corporate identity. It reflects the transformation of a focused hygiene company into a broader consumer products organisation designed to build, operate and scale specialised brands across multiple categories.

The idea is simple. Nibhana Consumer becomes the company. Smilepad becomes an increasingly focused feminine care brand within it. Other specialised brands are being built around other consumer needs.

This structure gives Nibhana Consumer the freedom to enter new categories while allowing every individual brand to develop its own identity, expertise, consumer understanding and market position.

Built on Decades of FMCG Experience

The foundation of Nibhana Consumer begins with the experience of its founder, Jairam Shetgaonkar.

Before establishing Smilepad Hygiene India in 2019, Jairam spent approximately three decades building businesses across the FMCG sector. His career included experience with Gillette, where he worked across business development and Asian markets, followed by a long tenure at Godfrey Phillips India, including senior leadership responsibilities across international business and corporate strategy.

His career provided exposure to many of the disciplines that determine whether a consumer company can successfully scale. These include distribution, consumer behaviour, international markets, commercial strategy, brand building, organisational leadership and the ability to execute consistently over long periods of time.

That experience became part of Smilepad Hygiene India's foundation from the beginning.

The company was not conceived simply as a manufacturer of sanitary products. The larger thinking was around understanding consumers, identifying underserved needs, building the right products, developing reliable supply capabilities and creating businesses that could remain relevant as markets evolved.

Today, as the organisation becomes Nibhana Consumer, Jairam's role increasingly reflects that broader ambition.

His focus will be on building the larger Nibhana institution, shaping its strategic direction, strengthening its operating capabilities, developing partnerships and helping the company identify opportunities that can become meaningful consumer businesses over the coming decades.

A Second Generation Growing With the Business

Alongside Jairam, the next generation of Nibhana Consumer has been developing gradually.

Samruddh Shetgaonkar had been closely exposed to the business since its early years. Growing up around Jairam meant that conversations about consumers, distribution, brands, markets and businesses were part of his environment long before joining the company formally.

He became fully involved in the organisation in 2023.

His initial focus was marketing.

One of his first priorities was to rethink how the company and its brands appeared to the outside world. This involved working on branding, digital presence, positioning, communication and the overall way products and businesses were presented to customers.

As the company evolved, this work became part of a larger transformation.

The objective was not simply to make Smilepad look different. It was to create a clearer architecture for what the organisation could eventually become.

Working closely with Jairam and learning from experienced FMCG professionals within his wider professional network gave Samruddh exposure to perspectives developed over decades of building brands, managing markets and leading consumer businesses.

That exposure has gradually moved his role beyond branding and marketing.

His focus is increasingly shifting towards business development, identifying new opportunities, entering new categories, developing markets and helping shape the next generation of businesses that can be created under Nibhana Consumer.

The decision to move from Smilepad Hygiene India to Nibhana Consumer emerged from this broader thinking.

The company had reached a point where its future could no longer be defined adequately by a corporate identity associated primarily with one category.

Smilepad Remains at the Core of Nibhana Consumer

The evolution into Nibhana Consumer does not mean moving away from Smilepad.

It means giving Smilepad a clearer purpose.

Smilepad will continue to develop as a core feminine care brand and business within Nibhana Consumer.

Its focus will increasingly centre on feminine hygiene and menstrual care, including sanitary napkins, panty liners, disposable period panties, maternity pads, menstrual cups, tampons and related feminine care solutions.

For businesses looking to create or source feminine care products, Smilepad will also continue developing its capabilities across OEM manufacturing, private label manufacturing, product development, packaging and institutional supply.

The company's manufacturing capabilities increasingly extend from understanding a customer's requirement through product engineering, sampling, packaging development, manufacturing, quality control and final supply.

This is an important part of the new structure.

Rather than allowing Smilepad to become a general name stretched across unrelated product categories, Nibhana Consumer allows Smilepad to build deeper authority in feminine care.

At the same time, different Nibhana businesses can build authority in their respective categories.

Building Specialist Brands Around Different Consumer Needs

As Nibhana Consumer grows, the company intends to build specialised brands and platforms around clearly defined consumer needs.

Golden Years is being developed around adult care and incontinence.

Its portfolio includes adult diapers, underpads, adult wipes and adult incontinence products designed around the requirements of older adults, caregivers, hospitals, pharmacies and institutional buyers.

Adult care is fundamentally different from feminine care. The consumer, caregiver, product expectations, purchasing behaviour and communication requirements are different. Giving Golden Years an independent identity allows the brand to develop genuine expertise and trust within that category while still benefiting from the capabilities of Nibhana Consumer.

Doctoright serves another purpose.

Doctoright is being developed as Nibhana Consumer's international sourcing and export platform, connecting global buyers with products and manufacturing capabilities from India.

Its focus extends across hygiene products, personal care, adult care, baby care, medical consumables, healthcare products, home care and other categories where Indian manufacturing can serve global demand.

For international buyers looking for Indian suppliers, private label manufacturing, product development or export support, Doctoright is intended to simplify what can otherwise be a fragmented sourcing process.

This creates a clear architecture.

Nibhana Consumer is the broader consumer company.

Smilepad develops expertise in feminine care.

Golden Years develops expertise in adult care.

Doctoright develops international sourcing and export markets.

Future Nibhana Consumer brands can similarly be built around baby care, personal hygiene, healthcare, home care and other consumer categories where the company identifies a meaningful opportunity.

From Building Products to Building a Consumer Platform

The larger ambition behind Nibhana Consumer is not to create a collection of unrelated brands.

It is to build a repeatable consumer business system.

Consumer companies ultimately create value by repeatedly doing a small number of things exceptionally well. They understand consumers. They identify needs before those needs become obvious. They develop the right products. They build brands consumers can understand and trust. They create reliable manufacturing and supply systems. They develop distribution. They communicate effectively. They learn from the market and continue improving.

Nibhana Consumer is being structured around these capabilities.

The company is building experience across consumer research, product development, manufacturing partnerships, packaging development, procurement, quality control, supplier management, institutional sales, distribution, digital marketing, export development and supply chain execution.

Over time, these capabilities can become shared infrastructure available to every Nibhana Consumer brand.

That changes the economics of building the next business.

A new brand should not need to build every capability from the beginning. It should be able to benefit from the manufacturing knowledge, supplier relationships, quality systems, commercial experience, technology, digital infrastructure and distribution understanding already developed within Nibhana Consumer.

This is the deeper purpose behind moving from Smilepad Hygiene India to Nibhana Consumer.

The organisation is moving from building individual products towards building an institution capable of repeatedly creating and scaling consumer businesses.

Combining FMCG Discipline With a New Generation of Consumer Building

Consumer businesses are changing.

For decades, large FMCG companies built competitive advantage primarily through distribution, manufacturing scale, advertising and the ability to secure physical shelf space.

Those capabilities remain important, particularly in a market as diverse as India.

But a new set of capabilities has become equally important.

Digital discovery allows companies to understand demand earlier. Search behaviour reveals what consumers and businesses are actively looking for. Direct customer conversations provide faster feedback. Technology allows smaller teams to coordinate complex operations. Digital platforms allow specialised brands to build audiences without depending entirely on traditional distribution.

Nibhana Consumer intends to combine these new capabilities with the disciplines that have historically built enduring FMCG companies.

The experience accumulated by Jairam Shetgaonkar across traditional FMCG provides one side of that equation.

The newer approach to branding, digital marketing, business development and market discovery being developed by Samruddh represents another.

The opportunity lies in bringing the two together.

Experience without evolution can become rigid.

Speed without discipline can become fragile.

Nibhana Consumer intends to build at the intersection of both.

Making Aspirational Consumer Products More Accessible

One idea will remain central to the company's philosophy as it expands.

Aspirational products should not have to become inaccessible products.

Across India and many emerging markets, consumers increasingly expect better design, better packaging, better performance and better brand experiences. At the same time, affordability remains fundamental.

Nibhana Consumer sees this not as a contradiction, but as a problem worth solving.

Better products do not always require excessive complexity. Strong brands do not necessarily require wasteful spending. Innovation is valuable when it solves a real consumer problem. Good design is valuable when it improves understanding, trust or experience.

The objective is therefore to identify gaps where consumer expectations have moved ahead of what the market currently provides and to build brands capable of closing those gaps economically.

That philosophy can extend far beyond feminine hygiene.

It can apply to baby care, adult care, personal care, home care, healthcare and many of the everyday products that consumers use throughout their lives.

Building From India for India and the World

The timing of this evolution is significant.

India is becoming one of the world's most important consumer markets while simultaneously strengthening its position as a global manufacturing base.

For Nibhana Consumer, those developments create two parallel opportunities.

The first is domestic.

As incomes, expectations, digital adoption and consumer awareness grow, Indian consumers are becoming more discerning about the products they purchase. Categories that were once largely functional are becoming increasingly driven by design, convenience, trust, performance and brand preference.

The second opportunity is global.

Indian manufacturers have the potential to become increasingly important partners for international brands, distributors and retailers looking for competitive manufacturing, product development and diversified sourcing.

The experience being developed through Smilepad, Doctoright and the wider Nibhana Consumer manufacturing ecosystem gives the company an opportunity to participate in both.

One part of Nibhana Consumer can build brands around the changing needs of Indian consumers.

Another can use Indian product development and manufacturing capabilities to serve customers around the world.

Over time, the distinction may become even smaller as brands originating within Nibhana Consumer expand beyond India themselves.

What the Evolution Means

For customers, partners and suppliers who have known the company as Smilepad Hygiene India Private Limited, the most important point is continuity.

The organisation, experience and relationships built since 2019 form the foundation of Nibhana Consumer.

Smilepad remains an important part of that foundation and will continue as a dedicated feminine care brand.

The difference is that the corporate identity around Smilepad is now large enough to support businesses far beyond feminine hygiene.

Nibhana Consumer Private Limited is the broader consumer company formerly known as Smilepad Hygiene India Private Limited. Smilepad is a core feminine care brand within Nibhana Consumer. Golden Years is its specialised adult care platform. Doctoright is being developed around international sourcing and exports.

This distinction is important because it explains where the company has come from and where it intends to go.

What started in 2019 as Smilepad Hygiene India has become the foundation for a much broader ambition.

For Jairam Shetgaonkar, it means taking decades of FMCG experience and applying it to the creation of a larger consumer institution.

For Samruddh Shetgaonkar, it means carrying that experience into a new generation while building capabilities around brands, business development, digital markets and new opportunities.

For Smilepad, it means becoming more focused rather than less important.

And for Nibhana Consumer, it represents the beginning of a much larger journey.

The vision is to build category leading brands.

To build one of India's significant consumer groups.

To create products that combine aspiration with accessibility.

To develop a repeatable system for discovering, building and scaling consumer businesses.

And eventually, to build a global consumer company originating from India.

Smilepad Hygiene India created the foundation. Nibhana Consumer is being built for everything that foundation can become.
